Ms Wenyue Qiang

Wenyue Qiang is a fifth-year DPhil candidate at St Cross College, University of Oxford, working under the supervision of Professor Hindy Najman. She previously completed a BA in Modern Hebrew and an MPhil in Religious Studies at Peking University, China, followed by an MA in Jewish Studies at University College London (2019) and an MSt in Classical Hebrew Studies (Distinction) at Oxford (2020).

Wenyue’s doctoral research explores legal hermeneutics and processes of scripturalization in the Temple Scroll, with particular attention to themes such as temple space, festivals, purity, and kingship. This research is generously supported by China Oxford Scholarship Fund and Great Britain-China Educational Trust. Her research interests include legal interpretation, law and narrative, and purity laws in the Dead Sea Scrolls.
